Unique Kitchen Designs

Updated: Jan 5

Designing a kitchen for you, not for the market.

When confronted with kitchen design decisions, many opt for the 'safer' choice of neutrals and whites – a wise decision considering it's a significant and permanent investment. However, bold choices in tiles and cabinet colors, when balanced with the right elements, can exude timeless appeal. Don't shy away from that standout tile or furniture piece you love; incorporate it with cleaner, simpler elements for a personalized touch.

Here are top tips for a bolder, more personalized design:

Top tips for a bolder, more personalized design:

  • Link Elements: Ensure your chosen feature piece ties back to the overall design. Reflect its color or pattern somewhere else in the kitchen for a cohesive look.

  • Create a Focal Point: Designate one feature as the 'main show' and harmonize the rest accordingly. If the feature has a bright color, opt for more muted tones in the rest of the kitchen to avoid visual clutter.

  • Pattern and Color Balance: If going bold in pattern, keep the color palette more muted and neutral, or vice versa, to maintain a harmonious visual balance.

  • Blend Old and New: Mix modern cabinetry with traditional features like chandelier lighting or a rustic-style backsplash. This crossover not only broadens appeal but also adds character and charm.

The modern cabinetry is mixed with more traditional features and details of the fireplace and chandelier, creating a fun and interesting transitional kitchen. The fireplace is the focal point of the kitchen, a perfect balance of intricate detail and clean modern lines has been created here.

The eclectic pattern of this backsplash is perfectly balanced with the modern clean lines of the cabinetry. The hues of blue and grey in the tile tie in with the floor and the weathered timber flooring soften the space to create the perfect blend of old and new.

The wood of the antler Chandelier is reflected in elements such as the wood beams and dining table. On its own this lighting would conflict with the white coastal elements of the kitchen however by using similar textures in other elements it ties in perfectly.

The yellow toned shelving is reflected across the design of this kitchen. This is shown in the paint around the window and with the light and stools that are made of a wood that has a similar yellow tone.

Embrace bold choices but maintain a thoughtful balance for unique kitchen designs that stand the test of time.
