Frequently Asked Questions – Custom Cabinetry in St. Louis

If you're considering custom Amish cabinetry for your kitchen, bath, or whole-home project, you likely have questions. Below are answers to the most common inquiries from homeowners, designers, and builders I work with.

What makes Amish cabinetry different?

Amish cabinets are fully custom, made from solid hardwoods using traditional joinery (like dovetail joints). Every cabinet is built to order — no pre-fab or particle board. You get exceptional craftsmanship, timeless design, and long-lasting durability.

Do I need to visit a showroom?

No. NG Living is a boutique design service — not a showroom. I meet with you on-site, review your layout needs, and help you select finishes through sample kits and photo previews. The cabinetry I offer isn’t available in stores or showrooms.

What’s the price range for custom cabinetry?

Cabinet pricing varies by layout size, wood species, finish, and features. Full kitchen cabinetry typically starts around $18,000–$65,000. Smaller projects like vanities or mudrooms may be less. A final quote is provided after the layout and selections are confirmed.

What areas do you serve?

I serve the greater St. Louis region, including:

  • Ladue • Clayton • Chesterfield • Wildwood • Kirkwood • Central West End • St. Louis metro

Do you supply countertops, or just the cabinetry?

I coordinate both. While I specialize in Amish custom cabinetry, I also offer countertop guidance and quoting through trusted local fabricators. This allows you to simplify your kitchen or bath renovation with one design partner handling layout, finish selections, and material coordination.

Can I use my own contractor?

Yes. You’re welcome to use your own general contractor, but the Amish craftsman who builds your cabinets will also install them — ensuring a flawless fit and finish. Your GC can coordinate any additional trim or site prep.

Can you help with cabinet design if I already have plans?

Absolutely. If you or your designer already have floor plans or a vision in mind, I’ll refine them into a full cabinetry layout and assist with finish selection, 3D previews, and final order coordination.

How long does it take to receive the cabinets?

Typical lead time is 6–10 weeks from final design approval. This timeline allows for custom fabrication, finishing, and Amish installation scheduling. Rush requests may be considered depending on workload.

Can I see finish samples before committing?

Yes. I offer physical finish previews and door samples upon request. I’ll help you compare wood species, stains, and paint finishes based on your lighting, flooring, and overall style.

Can I see my countertop material before ordering?

Yes. After I provide your countertop quote based on layout and material preferences, you’ll be able to visit the local fabricator’s warehouse to view full slabs in person. This ensures you're confident in the exact tone, veining, and finish before your stone is cut.

I’ll guide you through the options — including quartz, granite, and natural stone — and schedule the warehouse viewing at the right stage in the process.

Do you offer financing or payment plans?

I do not offer in-house financing, but I can break your payments into phases — typically a deposit at layout approval, and balance before delivery.
